Outing Report: August 2024

Beautiful weather made our August outings even more fun. Here are just a few highlights from the activities your generous donations to the River Deep Foundation support.

Think of this as photography without a camera! Our participants enjoyed learning about this photographic printing method invented in 1842.

Equine-Assisted Learning with the Remount Foundation

After helping several veterans experience calm and centering  through care for horses, participants enjoyed a trail ride on a picture-perfect day.

This adventure on the Colorado River was the result of a magnificent team effort by Bob Dye, expert volunteer guides from Blue Quill Anglers, Craig Hospital staff and River Deep volunteers. Together, along with four Craig alumni and their guests, everyone floated down the river and enjoyed catch-and-release fishing before pulling over for a hearty lunch in beautiful surroundings along the riverbank.

Blacksmithing and Welding with Kilroy’s Workshop

Participants ranging in skill from beginner to advanced worked on the projects of their choice, learning new skills that will keep them coming back for more fun in this dynamic workshop.

Fly Fishing at Lincoln Hills with Anglers of Honor
Denver, August 24
Participants: Craig, OTF, SRU, VA

After learning the basics from expert guides at Front Range Anglers, participants donned waders and headed into the pristine waters of south Boulder Creek or fished from the banks of a couple of beautiful ponds. After a fun morning of catch and release, we told fish stories over a delectable lunch provided by Gondolier Italian Eatery.
